13 Weeks

How far along: 13 weeks and the size of a peach – about 3 inches long!

Gender: I’m still feeling girl, but Mike refers to the baby as “he” and “him”.  He may be in for a rude awakening.  🙂

Maternity clothes: My clothes are getting tighter and more uncomfortable by the day.  This week I’ve started the ponytail holder trick to wear my pants unbuttoned but keep them still held together (genius!). Also, I did break out the belly band last night after trying to squeeze into a pair of jeans that I couldn’t button after they mistakenly got tossed in the dryer by a sweet husband trying to help out his insanely tired wife.

Belly button in or out: In.

Sleep: Sleeping great… and constantly.

Best moment this week: Our 12 week appointment was definitely the highlight of our week.  We got to hear that healthy heartbeat and finally let out a sigh of relief that we made it to the “safe zone”.  That also meant that we were able to share the news with the rest of our families and friends.  We couldn’t believe the outpouring of love that we got after sharing our wonderful secret we had been keeping!  We have been on cloud 9 all week.

Miss anything: I know that I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but… energy, energy, energy!  And being able to button my jeans every day.  🙂

Cravings: Apples smothered in nutella (heaven!), berries, fruit bars, sweet tea, baked potatoes, cheese.

Sickness/Symptoms: Only a few moments of slight nausea this week, but nothing terrible and it passes quickly.  No other new symptoms – just a rapidly growing belly.

Baby Purchases/Gifts:  We received our first gift for baby in the mail this week – an adorable UGA security blanket.  Baby Mully will have SEVEN grandparents, so I think it’s safe to say this child will be very loved and spoiled rotten!  We also bought a stuffed monkey that Mike picked out while we were out doing a little baby research today – it’s so soft and precious.

Looking forward to: Mike’s dad and stepmom (Ed & Trish) coming in town to visit this weekend.  We will be dining at some fabulous Atlanta establishments before going to the Masters Practice Round on Monday.  We will also have a lot of celebrating to do this weekend, too!  Cant wait!!

12 Weeks

How far along:  12 weeks and the size of a Chipotle burrito large plum!

Gender:  I still have a strong unexplainable feeling that it’s a girl, but Mike is predicting boy.

Maternity clothes:  Not wearing any just yet, but I did buy a maternity tee and some leggings while out running errands today.

Belly button in or out:  In.

Sleep:  No complaints.

Best moment this week:  Shooting some pictures for our fun “we’re expecting” reveal to the world and having dinner at one of my favorite spots with some of our favorite people.  We also watched a couple of great movies this weekend.  We rented Dallas Buyers Club Friday night, and we both thought it was one of the best movies we’d seen in a very long time.  Get the tissues ready… although that could have just been my pregnancy hormones talking.  We went to see The Grand Budapest Hotel today since Mike is a Wes Anderson fanatic, and it did not disappoint either.  Quirky (like all of his films) but charming, funny, and beautiful.  It was a great weekend, and I’m loving the springlike weather – hope it’s hear to stay!

Miss anything:  Energy, Bell’s Two Hearted Ale (I had to watch Mike and my friends drink my favorite beer last night in front of me, and it was torture!), unlimited amounts of caffeine, and the Bahamian beaches!

Cravings:  Still heavily craving anything sweet:  chocolate, candy, fruit, sweet tea, you name it.

Sickness/Symptoms:  I’ve had more nauseous moments this week as well as dizziness – both of which can normally be cured by grabbing a snack.  Also, I’ve had some cramping in my lower abs which is apparently caused by my uterus expanding.  Crazy.

Looking forward to:  Our 12 week appointment tomorrow morning!  I can’t wait to hear that the little bun is healthy and growing!  And there is nothing in the world like hearing that little heartbeat.  So amazing!

I’ll just leave you with this….. busy putting on pregnancy weight and sympathy weight at the KK that just opened down the street from our house.  This could be dangerous…  🙂

11 Weeks

We had a blast on our family cruise to the Bahamas to celebrate JB’s 60th birthday!  Since we are spread all over the country, it was a much needed trip to reconnect and spend an uninterrupted 4 days together in the sun.  We had such a great time and wish we could have extended our stay!  Here are some pictures from paradise…

How far along: 11 weeks

Gender: Still have a hunch that it’s a girl, but who knows…

Maternity clothes: Still none yet, but it’s only a matter of time.  Some days I feel like my belly is really popping out there, so I’ve been wearing a lot of loose flowing tops to hide the bump at work.

Belly button in or out: In

Sleep: Still sleeping great.

Best moment this week: Vacation from work, spending so much time with my family, and soaking up the sunshine with my toes in the sand = happiness for this girl!

Miss anything: Still missing energy the most.  My house is falling apart because I have zero energy to do ANYthing productive when I get home from work due to the fact that I am running a 24/7 baby-making factory.  I start to crash around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, so it’s all I can do to push through the next couple of hours at work and make it home to my beloved couch.  Mike has been amazing the past couple of months – cooking dinner for me every night and waiting on me hand and foot.  This baby is zapping everything out of me, but I keep hearing I will start feeling like my old self again and regaining energy in the second trimester.  Fingers crossed… for my sake and Mike’s!

Cravings: I am definitely starting to crave sweet things which is a big change for me because I do not normally have a sweet tooth!  I have always craved salty over sweet.  These days I’m still drinking sweet tea daily and loving dark chocolate, peanut butter m&m’s, fruit and nutella… mmmmm.

Sickness/Symptoms: I feel like the nausea is starting to disappear completely which is nice, but now my appetite is  out. of. control.  I feel like I could eat all day every day, so I’m trying to keep that in check and snack/graze responsibly so that I don’t end up being the size of a house.  Luckily, fruit is really hitting the spot right now, so my cravings cold be a lot worse.  Other symptoms are extreme exhaustion which I already covered, bloating, achy/sensitive breasts that feel (to me) like they’ve almost doubled in size, and occasional faintness/dizziness if I go too long with out a snack or meal (30 minutes).  Haha!

Looking forward to: Our 12 week appointment confirming that this little bun is healthy in there!  It will then be safe to share with the rest of the world our wonderful news, and I cannot wait! Continue reading

Wow! I can’t believe this is real. Mike and I are so thrilled to be expecting our first baby in October. Keeping this secret the past couple of months has been torture, so we are so excited to now share all the details with all of you!

We found out the great news on a Sunday evening – January 26 – after taking two pregnancy tests the week prior getting negative results. I was frustrated because I was a week late and didn’t understand what was going on with my body. Finally, after a fun afternoon at a bridal shower honoring one of my best friends and throwing back a couple of mimosas (oops!), I decided to take one more test for the hell of it. Positive! I couldn’t believe it. I ran downstairs to show Mike. We were both in shock but ecstatic!

10 weeks

How far along: 10 weeks

Gender: No clue, but my gut says it’s a girl. We shall see!

Maternity clothes: None yet, but I did buy a belly band from Target and I have a feeling I may be putting it to use sooner rather than later. 😬

Belly button in or out: In

Sleep: Sleeping great. I have been absolutely exhausted basically from the second I found out I was pregnant, so I’ve  been sleeping like a baby at night.. and sometimes during the day. I’m not a good napper, so if I’m napping I’m dead tired.

Best moment this week: Celebrating one of my besties at her bachelorette party in Charleston! It was a fun-filled weekend full of  great food, dancing, and lots of laughs with some of my favorites!

Miss anything: I was really missing a good beer in Charleston especially with it being such a beautiful weekend! Oh, and energy. I reeeeally miss having energy.

Cravings: Sweet tea! I probably hadn’t had sweet tea in years, and now I drink it almost every day. Also, sharp cheddar cheese and dark chocolate.. But not together. Or maybe? 😃

Sickness: I’ve had a little bit of nausea but nothing too terrible. It usually hits in the afternoon but subsides pretty quickly if I have a snack.

Looking forward to: Our family cruise from Miami to the Bahamas to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday!
