39 Weeks

39 weeks

How far along: 39 weeks and the size of a watermelon – about 20 inches long and possibly over 7 pounds (although I’m betting she’s under 7 lbs based on the birthweights of Mike and myself – we’ll see!).  Either way, I feel like I am definitely carrying around a watermelon these days, so this seems fitting!

Gender: Baby Girl

Sleep: I have been blessed with some decent sleep this week which I have not been taking for granted!  I slept in until after 9 both mornings this weekend, and I cherished every minute knowing that this could be the last time that happens – ever!  Haha!

Best moment this week: My good friend and coworker who is like a brother to me finally tied the knot Friday night, and I’m proud to say I was instrumental in setting these two lovebirds up on a blind date a little over a year ago.  They were married at a beautiful North Georgia winery and vineyard, and my sister flew in to photograph the wedding!  We had so much fun celebrating at the wedding and have enjoyed a much-needed slow weekend here at home spending time with Kat and preparing for Molly’s arrival.

39 weeks

Miss anything: Just being comfortable.  I’m getting to that point where I am just constantly uncomfortable, and it hurts to get up and down, bend over, walk, stand, you name it.  I’m definitely looking forward to being able to move around a little more easily again one day soon.

Movement/Symptoms: Molly is still as active as ever which is good, but now we’re just playing the waiting game.  At my appointment this past Wednesday, I was 1 cm dilated.  You can sit there for weeks, though, so no sign of real progress.  I’m interested to see if we’ve moved any further along at my next appointment in a couple of days.  Fingers crossed!

Cravings: Still sweets – had some yummy pistachio and strawberry gelato last night that hit the spot!

Looking forward to: Meeting Molly June very very soon!!

In the meantime, here are some pics of the 98% complete nursery.  I am so happy with how it is coming together!  The lighting is weird in some of the pictures, but the walls are really more of a mint green like in the last picture with the book shelves.

My sister painted that fabulous canvas print after I spotted it on Etsy and it was sold out. I love it and love that Molly will have a piece of her Aunt Kitty in her room!

38 Weeks

38 weeks

Well, the hospital bags are officially packed – things are getting real, y’all!  The countdown to meeting little Molly June is officially on….

How far along: 38 weeks and the size of a pumpkin – so fitting for fall! – over 19.5 inches long and about 6.8 pounds.

Gender: Baby Girl

Sleep: I think my nights of decent sleep have come to end.  It hasn’t helped that I’ve been sick and not breathing well at night, but adding aching hips, frequent trips to the bathroom, and heartburn to the mix makes for an interesting night’s sleep for sure.  Might as well get used to this now!

Best moment this week: We went out Saturday for a night on the town celebrating a friend’s wedding, and we had so much fun!  I have a group of friends who all met freshman year of college living on the same hall in our dorm, and somehow we have managed to continue these friendships 13 years later.  Some of us live pretty close to one another, so we are fortunate enough to get together once a month for dinner.  I love these ladies and cherish these friendships so much!  We had such a blast dancing the night away – well, let’s be honest – I danced the night away from my chair since my back was killing me!!  🙂

Miss anything: Being able to relax and enjoy downtime.  I drag so much during the weeknight evenings, so once the weekends roll around I have been running around like a crazy lady trying to get everything in order for Molly’s arrival.  I am feeling pretty good about where things are right now, though, so I’m hoping to relax a bit this weekend if I can.

Movement/Symptoms: I think I’ve been feeling some Braxton Hicks contractions lately –  I just hope that I will know the difference when the real thing starts!  It won’t be long now…

Cravings: Now that fall is here I am adding pumpkin to list of things I’ve been craving!  I pretty much crave that every fall, though.  Today I bought a pumpkin, chocolate, caramel popcorn mix that was divine and pumpkin pancake and waffle mix that I can’t wait to test out soon.  I’ve also had a couple of Pumpkin Spice Lattes as well… my favorite!

Looking forward to: Seeing my sister in 3 days!!!!  My good friend Dave who I have worked with since I graduated from college almost a decade ago (yikes!) is getting married this weekend, and Kat is flying in to photograph the event!  Although Dave’s mom and fiance were betting that Molly would arrive before the wedding and I wouldn’t make it, I’m determined to be there!  It will be such a special day, and I’m excited to get some quality time with my sister this weekend, too!  Here’s hoping Molly will hang tight for at least another week or so… 🙂

37 Weeks

37 weeks

This is a very random fact about me.  Has anyone noticed my rebellious pinky finger in my weekly photos?  It always makes me laugh.  I broke it in 4th grade playing kickball, and it never healed correctly.  I cannot get that thing to cooperate!  🙂

It has been a rough past couple of days, so sorry for the late post (Mom!).  I have started coming down with a cold that I believe I got from my lovely germy coworkers despite my best attempts to keep my distance and sanitize every 5 minutes.  Let’s hope this passes quickly because it’s really taking a toll on this already tired pregnant body!

How far along: 37 weeks and the size of a winter melon – over 19 inches long and about 6 1/3 pounds.

Gender: Baby Girl

Sleep: Not good at all.  I know I jinxed this last week by saying it was somewhat better.  The first part of this week was especially rough because I would wake up in the middle of the night around 3am like clockwork for a bathroom break and then my mind would immediately start spinning with the never-ending to do list of things I wanted done before Molly’s arrival.  Mike encouraged me to write it all down so I made a color-coded spreadsheet (nerd alert!), and we were able to knock out almost the entire list over this past weekend.  Needless to say, I’m feeling much more relaxed and prepared for Molly to get here which is now helping me sleep MUCH better at night.  🙂

Best moment this week: I had my 36 week appointment where they were able to tell Molly’s position, and I’m happy to report that she is head down and in position – let’s just hope she stays that way!  We also had a lot of fun doing a maternity photo session with my good friend Melissa this weekend.  It’s so hard having my sister so far away, but we are lucky to have another talented photographer buddy close by to fill in and capture these moments for us!

Miss anything: Energy!  I found out at my last appointment that my Iron is a little low which explains why I’ve been soooo tired.  I knew it was normal to feel tired this late in the pregnancy, but I literally had no energy to do anything when I got home from work each day.  My doc gave me a prescription and encouraged me to eat more red meat – if you know me, you know that I was jumping for joy when I heard that!  Red meat is my fave.  We are having burgers tonight and streak fajitas tomorrow :).

Movement/Symptoms: I can tell that Molly’s quarters are getting a little cramped in there, but she is still as active as ever!

Cravings: Nothing new here… Ice cream, chocolate, jalepenos.

Looking forward to: Getting over this cold and getting the last few things in order for Molly’s arrival!

I’ll leave you with a few sneak peek pictures from our maternity session!  xo

36 Weeks

36 weeks

How far along: 36 weeks and the size of a honeydew – over 18.5 inches long and almost 6 pounds.

Gender: Baby Girl

Sleep: Not great but better than it has been lately (knocks on wood).

Best moment this week: My BFF Christy gave birth to her precious son Eli, and everyone is healthy and doing well!  I’m so thrilled that we were able to share this pregnancy journey together and now motherhood – there is nothing like having a best friend to go through such a life-changing time with and with whom you can share every crazy thought and moment knowing that there will be absolutely no judgement.  If only we lived closer so that our babes could have regular play dates!

Miss anything: It’s really becoming difficult to move around comfortably which is making it harder and harder to be productive and get things done before Molly’s arrival.  Thank God Mike has been a saint and has been doing as much as he can to help me out, but it still gets frustrating.

Movement/Symptoms: I am still feeling a lot of movement and am constantly watching my stomach shift from side to side forming crazy shapes.  Besides that, I’m still feeling a good bit of heartburn and starting to swell in my hands and feet.  I think I’ve given up on getting my wedding rings back on since I took them off about a week ago, and I barely recognize my feet and sausage toes anymore :).

Cravings: Nothing new here… Ice cream, chocolate, jalepenos.

Looking forward to: Getting this nursery in order!  We still have a couple of things that have been delayed that I’m anxiously waiting on to help feel the room more complete – mainly the glider and bedding.  I finally started washing all of the precious little clothes, blankets and towels today, so I’m excited to get all of that put away soon and feel a little more prepared.  We still don’t have anything up on the walls yet, but I’m hoping we can tackle some of that this week.  I’m also looking forward to my 36 week appointment this week where they will externally feel to see what position Molly is in – hoping she is head down and planning to stay there!

35 Weeks

35 weeks

How far along: 35 weeks and the size of a coconut – over 18 inches long and about 5 1/4 pounds.

Gender: Baby Girl

Sleep: Ugh!  Sleep is continuing to be a struggle since it  is nearly impossible to get comfortable.  I guess my body is preparing me for future middle-of-the-night feedings!

Best moment this week: Can we talk about that UGA/Clemson game?!  I was starting to second guess whether making the trek to Athens at 35 weeks pregnant and nearly 100 degree temperatures was really the smartest move, but every doubt that I had vanished as we drove toward North Campus.  I am SO glad that I decided to go.  There is absolutely nothing like the opening weekend of college football, being back at my old stomping grounds, tailgating with great friends, and cheering our DAWGS on to an unbelievable victory!  It was such an amazing day and totally worth my swollen and sore feet! 😉  We then drove to Auburn the next morning to surprise my mom for an early birthday celebration – we had a wonderful couple days there, too, thanks to a long Labor Day weekend!  The boys played golf while the girls soaked up some sun at the pool and lake.  It was such a wonderful weekend, and we were sad for it to end!

Miss anything: I really wish that I could partake in a delicious pumpkin beer now that it is September and the seasonal beers are hitting shelves!  I guess a pumpkin spice latte will have to do the trick for the next month or so.

Movement/Symptoms: Molly was kicking up a storm during that UGA game – made Mama proud!  She is still moving around a good bit and pressing body parts into my ribs and organs which can be painful at times as she continues to get bigger.  The heartburn is still getting worse, too, so I always have a bottle of Tums on hand these days.

Cravings: Ice cream, chocolate, jalepenos.

Looking forward to: One of my best friends Christy is having her first baby tomorrow morning, and I can’t wait for Eli’s arrival and to see pictures of his sweet little face!!  He and Molly are sure to be the best of friends growing up.  🙂

32 Weeks

32 weeks

How far along: 32 weeks and the size of a squash – about 16 3/4 inches long and 3 3/4 pounds.

Gender: Baby Girl Molly June!

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Belly button in or out: Out.

Sleep: Sleep was pretty painful again this week.  I wake up around 3-3:30 in the morning each night to use the restroom and then am awake for awhile trying to get comfortable enough to fall back asleep.  It’s frustrating, but I guess I should go ahead and get used to this.  🙂

Best moment this week: I slept until 8:45 this morning somehow, and it was the most glorious thing ever.  It’s been nice to have a somewhat lazy weekend because I know these days are going to be very few and far between – if even existent at all – in the future!  We also made some more nursery decisions and purchases this weekend which felt really good to mark off the list.  It’s coming together slowly but surely.

Miss anything: Energy, sleeping comfortably, and being able to walk for 5 minutes without constantly feeling like I have to pee.

Movement/Symptoms: I’m still feeling some pretty hard kicks in my ribs, but lately it’s been a lot more rolling and feeling like it’s her butt or head pushing up against my insides.  Baby girl is definitely growing and getting stronger each week.  I’ve had a pretty easy pregnancy as far as symptoms go (knocks on wood), but the heartburn has just started getting intense these past couple of weeks.  If that’s the worst of the symptoms, though, I’ll take it!

Cravings: Fruit (although the pineapple has definitely been contributing to heartburn lately), ice cream – I had Jeni’s last night which is my favorite in town!, chocolate, the usual.

Looking forward to: Taking a hospital tour of the maternity ward tomorrow night!

30 Weeks

30 weeks

Holy bags under my eyes!  Keeping it real this week with no makeup… some days I’m doing good just to shower ;).

How far along: 30 weeks and the size of a cucumber – about 16 inches long and 3 pounds.  Can’t believe we only have 10 weeks to go?!  It’s getting real…

Gender: Sweet baby girl!

Maternity clothes: Living in.

Belly button in or out: Starting to protrude.

Sleep: So much better this week and much needed!  Hope this streak continues…

Best moment this week: Finally picking a paint color for the nursery!  The paint is going up this week, and I can’t wait for everything to finally start coming together in there.  We are going with a mint green paint for the walls… hoping it comes out exactly as planned!

Miss anything: Mainly just energy, but it’s not too terrible.  I really start heading downhill in the afternoons… very similar to how I felt in the first trimester.  I also miss being able to stand for 10 minutes without my back just killing me.

Movement: Still all over the place!

Cravings: This weekend I satisfied my sweet tooth with a Chick-fil-A peach milkshake and Krispy Kreme doughnut.. Oops!  Both were worth every calorie. 🙂

Looking forward to: Dinner tomorrow with some good girlfriends, the nursery getting painted, and my dad visiting for a night next weekend!

29 Weeks

In very exciting news, baby girl finally has a name!  I hadn’t shared on the blog yet because the news was still slowly traveling to family and friends, but I believe the cat is officially out of the bag.  The official name is Molly June Mulligan!  Molly was on a list of contenders from the beginning, but when at the beach with a couple of friends over Memorial Day weekend that somehow became her official nickname.  The four of us referred to her as “Molly” all weekend, and then Mike and I continued to call her that joking around at home.  We debated dozens of other names, but nothing else felt right.  We finally decided that Molly already felt like her name – especially since we had been calling her that for over a month!  So, it was decided.  As far the middle name, I always knew that I wanted June to be the middle name if I had a girl.  That was my Grandma’s name – my dad’s mom – and my sister was named after her as well (Kathryn June).  My Grandma June was one of a kind.  She spoiled me and my sister rotten, and we absolutely adored her.  I have the best memories of time spent with her when I was young – sleepovers at her house when we would stay up late watching tv in her bed, eating her homemade fried chicken, countless trips to the mall and excursions to Toys R Us, watching Grease (and other movies I wasn’t allowed to watch at home) with her in the living room floor.  I miss her all the time, but I’m glad that her name will live on in our daughter.

This was the most amazing week I can remember in a long time.  Friday I drove over to Mike’s office where his coworkers threw a surprise shower for us – well, a surprise for Mike!  He was so shocked, and the look on his face when he walked into the conference room for a “meeting” was priceless.  His coworkers were all so sweet, and I was so touched by everything they did for us!  It was a perfect party, and I can’t believe everyone pulled off the surprise – including me!  Saturday some of my best friends threw the most beautiful and perfect shower for me and Baby Molly.  There was so much thought and detail put into every little thing, and I adored it all.  I have the best friends ever, and they went above and beyond to make this day perfect.  I couldn’t be more thankful for them and for our families – some of whom traveled across the country to be here for the occasion!  It was such a special weekend, and I am still in awe at the outpouring of love our friends and families have shown for us and for Molly!  We could not feel more loved!

How far along: 29 weeks and the size of a butternut squash – about 16 inches long and 2.5 pounds.

Gender: Girl

Maternity clothes: Oh yeah.

Belly button in or out: Still questionable, but it should be popping out any day now.

Sleep: Not so great.  I was blessed with one amazing night’s rest Friday night, though.  I slept through the night and didn’t wake up until 9 am!  I can’t remember the last time I slept that late or that long without waking up.  It was amazing and much needed.

Best moment this week: So many I don’t even know where to begin!  It would definitely have to be a tossup between Mike’s surprise work shower that his sweet coworkers through us on Friday, the shower that my wonderful friends through me on Saturday, and spending time with our families who were here for the weekend and we rarely see.  It was such a perfect weekend filled with so much love and happiness celebrating Molly!

Miss anything: Sleep!  I’m sure all of you mothers out there are cracking up at this knowing how much worse it’s about to get once the baby is actually here, right?!  🙂

Movement:  I’m a little afraid about how feisty and wild this little girl might be judging by how active she already is.  Even the doctor commented on it at my appointment this week – granted, I had just chugged that nasty sugary beverage for my glucose test, but still!  She was trying to listen to the heartbeat, and Molly kicked so hard that the doctor’s hand jumped up from my belly.  We both laughed, and I confirmed that that was pretty much par for the course.  Last night was no exception.  I was SO exhausted after our long amazing weekend, and she decided to keep me up for another good hour with her intense kicks.  I kept reminding her it was bedtime, but she wasn’t having it.  Hope I don’t have a night owl on my hands!

Cravings: Ice cream, chocolate and fruit.  My friend Katie made some oreo truffles for my shower, and they were to die for!  Luckily, I was able to bring some home – no comment on how many I’ve already had.

Looking forward to: Touring the hospital soon and signing up for a couple of classes that will hopefully make us feel a little more prepared for what’s ahead!

It was so nice to have my sister here this weekend to celebrate her niece!  She is just a little bit excited about becoming a first-time aunt.. haha!

28 Weeks

28 weeks

It’s official – we are entering the third trimester!  How did that happen?!  While my body is definitely starting to feel the effects, it’s still hard to believe that this much time has passed and we are entering the final stretch.  This week has been a turning point in a lot of ways.  All of a sudden I feel much more uncomfortable, much more tired, and and much more overwhelmed.  I feel a little bit annoyed that I’m already this uncomfortable because I was really hoping that I had another good month or two in me, but I keep reminding myself that things could be a lot worse and I’m very thankful that I’ve had a pretty easy pregnancy thus far.  Here’s to the last third of this crazy journey… I can’t believe we’ll be holding a precious baby girl in our arms in three short months!

How far along: 28 weeks and the size of a large eggplant (yikes!) – about 16 inches long and 2.5 pounds.

Gender: Girl

Maternity clothes: Mike and I hit the outlets yesterday, and I added a couple more dresses and tops to the wardrobe.  Besides a couple of tops and maxi dresses, I’ve pretty much said goodbye to my pre-maternity clothes.  It was nice while it lasted.

Belly button in or out: Flat to slightly protruding.  It’s questionable.

Sleep: Not so comfortable anymore which is probably adding to my lack of energy.  I have officially surrounded myself with a fortress of pillows while sleeping.  I still have to have my Snoogle, but I add more pillows around me now, too… there can never be enough.  As my belly expands, it’s just not comfortable in any position.  Still sleeping on my side, but I toss and turn a lot and wake up at least a couple of times per night.  Not to mention, I can no longer sleep in even on weekends.  Womp womp.  I guess this is nature’s way of preparing me for many sleepless nights in the future!

Best moment this week: Nothing crazy stands out this week, but we’ve enjoyed a nice weekend at home including a date night Friday and evening out Saturday with friends we hadn’t seen in forever.  I’ve also started entering the hardcore “nesting” phase.  I am trying to get this house in order and ready for Baby Girl!  One step at a time…

Miss anything: Sleeping comfortably and just generally moving around more easily.  I feel like getting up from the couch is becoming a chore – I can’t imagine how much worse that’s about to get.  So thankful to have a sweet husband who does everything he can to help me out!

Movement: Constantly!  Kicking, punching, rolls, jabs, you name it!  The weirdest thing I’ve noticed this week is that she is now big enough that I can feel her jabbing at both sides of my stomach at the same time.  It’s like she is all over the place.  Sometimes it’s pretty painful, but for the most part it’s still awesome.  I often find myself mesmerized watching my belly change shapes right before my eyes.  It’s so crazy.

Cravings: Ice cream!

Looking forward to: Seeing so many wonderful family members and friends next week at my shower some sweet friends are throwing for me!  I can’t wait to see everyone!  It’s going to be such a fun-filled weekend with the ones I love.

27 Weeks

27 weeks

How far along: 27 weeks and the size of a rutabaga – about 14.5 inches long almost 2 pounds.

Gender: Girl

Maternity clothes: Yep… my options are getting slimmer by the day as my belly keeps growing. I think it’s time to go shopping!

Belly button in or out: Flat as a pancake.

Sleep: Definitely getting more uncomfortable and waking up a couple times a night is becoming the norm.

Best moment this week: Seeing my sister! We flew to Denver to visit Kat and her sweet hubby Chris over 4th of July weekend, and we had a great time. As always, the weekend went by way too fast, but I’m so excited to see her again in a couple of weeks at my shower!

Miss anything: I think I was a pretty good sport in Denver chugging water at breweries while my family enjoyed tasting all the yummy beers, but I was definitely missing having a cold one!

Movement: My little mover and shaker has been kicking up a storm all week. My mom and sister got to feel her kick in Denver which was so much fun. I drank a little apple juice hoping the sugar would get her moving, and it worked like a charm!

Cravings: Still sweets… we had some delicious desserts in Denver that hit the spot, and my brother-in-law whipped me up a delicious oreo milkshake that was to die for!

Looking forward to: A low-key week… finally!

I will leave you with some pics from our fun trip to Denver – Red Rocks, rickshaw races, and Fort Collins breweries!
